- Level & Responsibility: This role is at Director level and will report directly into a Senior Director within the business and will have 2+ direct report.

The role
We are looking for a Client Director to join our new retail partnership at SMG. In this role, you will lead the charge in creating and leading the relationships with the key Media Agencies operating in the UK. You will be responsible for building these relationships from scratch, educating them on the value of investing in the new retail partner as well as SMG’s network more broadly; securing a new source of investment from a variety of different clients and industries (CPGs, Entertainment, Gaming, Finance, Travel to name a few).

Why you?

- The ability to adapt and work with multiple senior stakeholders (internal and external).
- Multiple years of experience working and operating in a client/sales capacity.
- A proven track record of leading a team and delivering against commercial targets.
- A proven track record of high performance in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in a client or customer facing role with strong influencing skills.
- Able to juggle and deliver multiple projects at one time, with the competence to pivot quickly based on the needs and wants of the business.
- The ability to handle ambiguity and the demands that come with regularly setting up and launching something new.
- Strong commercial guile.
- Previous experience building/working in an existing retail media network is ideal but not essential.

What you'll be doing
We pride ourselves on creating challenging and exciting opportunities, meaning that no two days are the same. In addition to this, this is a newly defined role in the business and as such, the scope will be broad in nature but will include the following:
- UK Agency Engagement: Build and lead relationships with a variety of UK media agencies. Upskill and educate the agencies on the value of investing in the new retail partner and, more broadly, SMG’s network of other retail partners too.

Commercial Leadership: You will be responsible for attracting a new source of investment outside of the traditional ‘trade’ pots associated with retail media. This will come from a variety of sources including but not limited to:
- Accessing incremental ‘brand’ budgets for CPGs which agencies traditionally manage.
- Attracting new investment from clients in other contextually relevant industries (Entertainment, Gaming, Finance, Travel to name a few).
- Building and securing data license agreements from media agencies to access the unique first party data the retail has in question.
- Team Leadership: You will be responsible for leading an initial team of 2 to build and scale the UK agency relationships in question. You will train this team to become experts in managing agency relationships; managing 121s, work plans, appraisals and supporting their career progression.
- Partner Management: You will be a key member of the new partnership team, and will be a trusted advisor and expert to our key stakeholders both externally and internally at SMG. You will build strong relationships at the retail partner in question, and use these to accelerate our efforts (and agitate change where needed) to build a market leading media estate.

Contribution to SMG’s wider UK agency engagement plan: We are a young business, growing fast, and we will also look to you to also support our UK Agency Engagement Lead in developing the wider SMG proposition we also take to market.
